Server XII lag problems |
|
Today and yesterday i've been experiencing lag problems on server XII. My ping is usually good (15-30), but there are lag spikes every few seconds. I just finished a game and at the end we all had pings > 100, which is not right. My connection itself is not the problem, i dont have issues on other (non-tsgk) servers.

Yeah, i know that. The problem must be in the other 10% then =). Anyway, just played a little again and i didnt notice any lag issues anymore. The difference was that there were all players with pings less then 60. When there are a few players with pings > 150, the server lags down.

Sounds like the server is trying to compensate for the higher pings, giving everyone a level playing field.

Exactly, the Value is called sv_unlag, knows 3 different settings (0,1,2) and is activated by standard at every Server as long its not set to something else in the config. Its a Lag-Compansation and the Reason why some unique Players effect the whole Party and switch a smoothy running Server into a Lag Hell sometimes.

wow thank you very much for posting this.
there are several players that used to join a game and it would turn my fun filled lag free game into a sad panda one. I always wondered why this happened. .. so if you're one of those players you may see me leave the game hahahahahhaha..

Are you talking about your "Homeserver" or general? If you refer to Homeservers its caused by the limited Upload-Line mostly. Especially with sv_allowdownload 1 you will experience incredible Lag when someone who joins needs to download the Map. The Downloading Client(s) just block the whole Datatransfer and all Players who are still ingame get massive Lag.

Without more information like Loss and Choke values at the time of the lag period and client rate configuration this issue cannot be inquired at all.

thats client side not servers fault
