Stuff has Disappeared? Subject description: Oh no |
|
As yow know I just reinstalled Windows and was eager to get HL2DM back in action.
I Installed HL:DM and CS:S from the net (Too lazy to find my HL2 CD). However now certain things in the game have Disappeared or don't show up.
I.e in the Killbox certain moveable objects (Dunno Which ones) have turned from there normal model, into a big red Error Sign, so now, I am chucking giant Red error signs at people. I don't mind that, its pretty funny.
But a couple of other things have disappeared which are bit more annoying, like in dm_overwatch, you have that White Shelf thingy by the Crossbow, that is completely gone, nothing, nada. Just a blank space of where it used to be (It does register the object being there though as in I cant move through it), then that statue thing in Centrum has also disappeared. Rails and stuff have disappeared in Lockdown. Any ideas?

I'd be writing to valve, I think their online installation system (more commonly known as steam ) is missing some model files. Reinstall HL2 from your cd mate.

You could try veryifying your steam files first, that is "supposed" to make sure your have the latest versions of all files.

Did you back up your maps folder? If you did you might find that some of these models were custom, and were originally in your models and materials folder, which of course would not have been updated with only the maps folder being backed up.
If not then just reinstall it again

Maps, gcf files and .dem files are very fragmented by nature, therefor it has a extremely high compression ratio
900mb should be around 200mb compressed
i might be wrong tought
