Subject description: Best way to make a platform?!!?

If anyone can link me to a good tutorial on platforms I would really appreciate it. I can not find a tutorial that makes sense to a newer mapper like myself. Any help would be really appreciated!!!

PostPosted: Fri Apr 06, 2007 23:42    Post subject: help with making a map stable

okay guys I am really hoping someone here has an answer for me!

I am having a problem here and I don't know why it's happening.

When I create maps I really worry about adding "props_physics" and "props_physics_respawnable" because it seems like certain props that I add cause my maps to crash. I can create a completely empty room and then add a fridge as an example and then the map crashes after 1 min.. some physics objects seem to be worse then others. as an example the trap propeller blade seems to be stable. [when I play hl2dm I almost never get crashes anymore (1 a week maybe under normal circumstances)]

After having this problem I go back into hammer and remove the physics objects and then run my map again and I can play for what seems like forever without having any errors.

anyone have any ideas? thanks so much!

You could try changing the prop_physics to prop_physics_multiplayer. It's a simple version of prop_physics, could help with stability somewhat.

sounds more like a problem wiv Hammer / HL2, i can create a room and add a couple of props in and it runs sweet as a nut. You tried resetting it back to a default Config? Try running your level from HL2 itself (i.e compile map, close Hammer, open DM, create server and load your level), rather than launching the game from inside hammer.
