Subject description: FAQ? Walkthrough?

Hey all, I was wondering how to set up a source dedicated server.
I googled it, but cant seem to get good info.
I have it installed on a pc and i have a basic server, but im not sure how to set up a map cycle, add maps, install mods or anything like that. I did get rcon going. I just want to use it as a training ground for my co-workers.

all i did was click on tools under steam and then install source dedicated server. as far as map cycle .. I think there is a text file called mapcycle.txt in your hl2dm folder under srcds where you can set the maps. as far as mods just read the post that chilr and i posted on about mani admin plugin .. read very carefully.. the mani website pretty much explains everything too.

For the Server-Software byself check www.srcds.com

Pointing the Maps, the .bsp Files must be saved in Servers-Maps Folder and the Files Maplist.txt + Mapcycle.txt must be edited to include the new installed Map.

The "Source Dedicated Server" from Steams "Tools" Section is only a small and basical Server. Get the full standalone Version (650+ MB) at srcds.com.

There are only a Handfull interesting Files. Some are from the Server byself and others comming with the Plugins later like Mani.

The Server byself only needs:
server.cfg <-- for general Setup like Teamplay/Deathmatch, Gravity, setting up respawntime for Weapons/Items, Data-Rates etc.
maplist.txt <-- Contend all installed Maps (without the .bsp) so that the Server will find them
mapcycle.txt <-- Contends all Maps that shall run in general Cycle
autoexec.cfg <-- Will be loaded after the Server.cfg at Startup and each Mapchange for loading additional stuff like Headshot-Script etc.

Other Files will come with the Mani-Admin-Plugin:
mani_server.cfg <-- Contends how (if) the Ranking works, TK-Punishment, Gimp-Phrases, High-Ping-Kicker and a loooot more Stuff
adminlist.txt <-- Contends the Steam-IDīs of all Server-Admins so that they are allowed to open the Menue

There are a lot more Files - most selfexplaining by Name and usage examples in the File byself - but this are the most needed for the start.

i tried several times to get the dedicated server running, but it seems like i can only open lan games.. sv_lan 0 doesnt change anything.
i opened all the ports that are required and i have no idea why this isnt working.
