Oldest HL2 DM player? |
|
Hello. I'm just trying to find out if I am the oldest HL2 DM player out there. I am 54 years old. I've been playing video games from the earliest B&W arcade games - Pong, Tank, Red Baron, etc., and have had every gaming platform from the start. It's been almost a 40 year addiction! Who else is as sick as me?!?!?

Hmm. Not sure - I think TBR has an older player.
Welcome - sit down, put on your slippers and have a nice cup of tea.

Ah, so if this question was concerning the whole HL2 community and not only this board, then yes you definititly don't have the record.
Also, i think someone here is older than 54 yo, but i'm not sure if he would tell.

Osiris, I pretty much only play on TSGK servers (the BEST I've found whether I'm playing in the U.S. or Ukraine), so I guess my question was about here, not the community at large. I know I'm not unique and there are probably other old guys like me. But, I'm sure it's a small number and I'd just like to know if I recognize someone with mad skills who is near my age, the same, or older than me.

Yes, that what i have understand the first time, so then i think there is 1 person older than you here and a some arround your age or a little bit younger.
Make yourself at home.

Guy in my WoW guild was 58, oldest player I've met in video games. I think the notion of "old" players is changing. At least for me, in my guild almost all of us were in our mid to late 20's with some of us 40+ and married. At 20 I was one of the younger players . Welcome and enjoy the forums

Hey, watch it, Cynyx! I'm not a grandfather yet!!! I will officially be a grandfather in September when my son (who learned to play video games the moment he could hold a controller in his hands) and his wife have their first baby.
I appreciate the challenge to "test my reflexes." When I get back to my gaming computer next week I'll look you up.

I'll be 47 in April, and I don't just play on PC; we got our daughter a Wii for her birthday and we spend a lot of time using it for exercise!

Why don't you use weights instead, far less expensive if you drop it

yeah, at 32 I thought maybe I was nearing the end of my gaming career. Knowing that there are players out there with two decades on me warms the subcockles of my heart. Welcome soon-to-be-grandpa, your only as old as you feel... or think at least.

I guess I'm a bit of a whipper-snapper round these parts at 23. Oh well...so long as I don't start thinking of your guys' crowbars as canes all should be well .
Sorry, had to do it .

Perhaps Osiris could set up a forum exclusively for us old farts. We could discuss 80's music, talk about the original Battlestar Gallactica and reminisce about the cute girl on the BBC Test Transmission Card who loved cross and noughts.
I can't keep up with the young ones. And they run around the maps too fast.
I need a nap.
