I try to create a dedicated server for people to join so i can host my maps, but for some reason no one can ever get in my server. Is it because im on a LAN and some ports are closed?

Definitly wrong settings on your router for the ports forwarding.

if you're using a router/firewall and your udp port is closed.. 27015 or whatever then it won't show up on the server list.

You cant use the Source Dedicated Server from Tools in Steam for Internet use , you can buy a server yourself or you can host one with : srcds.com
