Has anyone else been crashing a lot since the latest update (9/20/06)? I've had HL2:DM crash on me a good 7 or 8 times today Mad and was just wondering if it was only me or if other people are getting the same crap too.

I've had a couple more than the usual 3 per hour of crashes to the desktop today. I've also heard a lot of people on the servers saying that they keep crashing. Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes

Wow, three crashes per hour! That really sucks. Oh well, it's comforting to hear that people have been crashing more lately (really sucks though) Twisted Evil .

After numerous web searches and trauling through forums,
I have come to the conclusion that hl2 dm crashes repeatedly for the vast majority of players.

Basically the game is unstable, (more so on certain maps killbox_kbh_1 being a very good example).

I guess theres nothing we can do but wait around for valve to fix the problem Confused

Dont hold your breath though Crying or Very sad

valve said it has to do with our sound drivers, so every sound card manufacturer has to change their drivers. the easier variant would be that valve fixed the problem but thats just too much work for such a small game with almost no community, lets push the problem on sound drivers Rolling Eyes

To fix this Problem maybe but include minimum 2 new negative surprises as usual for every Steam Update so that we never get bored here...

Half Step forward - two backwards as usual...

Cant we just become a basical - but stable working - Platform after more then 2 Years of Developing (or more like De-Constructing)???

Just checked my Steam Folder and was impressed how much its grown since i installed it in October 2004.

Unbelievable Data´s:

Folder: C:/Valve
HD-Usage: 10.4 GB(!) - could be used for 2 Oblivion or 3-4 F.E.A.R Installations..
Contained Subfolders: 631 - Shocked i bet 1 new for every crappy Update since 2 Years...
Contained Files: 16.230... - 1K for the Game, 230 Maps and Soundfiles and 15K for Steam-Special-Actions like "immediately back to Desktop", "force crash with bad Sound Driver", "force Crash with some other Driver", "force crash without Drivers Help", "activate Lag", "make User buy the Game again", "disconnect and show funny but useless message" or "just annoy User for fun..." - i could continue endless with this List...

There is nothing more frustrating then a Crash during a Good Game and without the great Gameplay (i mean the average 3 Minutes between the single Crashs if you remember that) byself and the Community around i just would be too pleased to celebrate a Delete-Orgy onto the whole Steam Installation and put this Masterpiece off idiotical programming into the Bin.

They just shall delete/redo all this additional/new Shit like "Friends-Tickes" and Stuff like this and bring the ATBC-Time (AverageTimeBetweenCrashs) up to 2-3 Hours!

I love HL2-Gaming byself but i hate, Hate, HATE & HATE!!!the Steam-Network and could continue endless here with shouting, bitching and harassment about until the Forum-MySQL-Database is filled. But i just doubt that i would find the needed Words without breaking Human-Rights and existing Law... lol

You surely got my Point - now multiply it with 10 and you are near my Views about Valve... Wink

Windows is most stable im my Eyes since i know Steam...

Best Regards to all other Steam Victims

Daniel

Danny, I feel your pain brother.

I used to go to the loo when the game crashed. But for the last two days I couldn't due to constipation.

Too much information?

Laughing
